5 of Most Desirable Tropical Islands in the World

When most people think of paradise, the chances of them thinking of tropical islands are distant corners of the world. Tropical islands are this peaceful escape where the days go by, the world’s problems melt away, and time slows down. The islands look similar to the rest of the area, with temperatures hot and humid all year round.

They are making this one of the more affordable islands in the Caribbean. The islands are quite rustic and make for a great off-the-grid island vacation. The rising sea level will make most islands uninhabitable by the end of the century.

The Maldives

The Maldives

The Maldives are located in the middle of the Indian Ocean and are a chain of 1,000 islands (200 are inhabited, and only 5 have a considerable population). The land is just a series of coral atolls barely above sea level. During the 2004 tsunami, many of these islands were thoroughly washed away.

These small coral islands are surrounded by excellent dives, snorkeling, and white sand beaches and are more relaxed with friendly locals. Private resorts spill the islands, and a vacation here is also costly. The capital Malé is one of the most densely populated cities in the world.

Fiji

Fiji

Although this country has about 322 islands, less than a third are inhabited. Whenever Fiji is heard, visions of beaches and tropical oceans dance in people’s minds. There is a good reason for that – because this place is one of the world’s best places to go and has so many islands.

It is a popular destination with young people and honeymooners, with something for everyone. Most young people go to the Yasawa Island group. There are 333 islands in Fiji, but less than half are inhabited. 1,500 different species of marine life call the waters around Fiji at home. There are 28 airports in Fiji, but only four have paved runways.

Tahiti

Tahiti

Do you know the pictures you always see of tropical bungalows in the water? The name has long been synonymous with tropical paradise. As one of the most extensive honeymoon destinations in the world, Tahiti offers pure heaven and romance. The island is expensive and provides a wealthier tourist crowd.

The weather is tropical all year round and very humid, although the temperatures are cooler from May to October. Tahiti consists of 118 atolls and islands. Hawaii sees more tourists in a single day than Tahiti will see in a whole year! The first overwater bungalows in the world were built in Tahiti.

The Seychelles

The Seychelles

Located off the east coast of Africa, these islands are a pure paradise. If I were persuaded to give up everything anywhere in the world and live in a beach hut, it would be Seychelles. Perfect beaches, perfect water, tons of islands to choose from, and all the seclusion you could wish for.

Seychelles is my dream and should be yours too. This group of 115 islands offers everything a beach lover can ask for. Unfortunately, these islands are quite expensive, but I think there is a price to pay for paradise. 115 islands comprise Seychelles, with a population of fewer than 100,000 people.

The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are located just off the coast of Western Sahara in Africa and are actually a Spanish archipelago and thus owned by Spain. There are seven main islands in the Canary Islands, each offering something different for intrepid travelers who want to sit back and enjoy island life.

Tenerife is the largest of the islands and has a bit of everything, including one of the largest carnival festivals in the world every February. No matter which island in the Canary Islands you choose, you can enjoy one of the best tropical islands in the world.
