5 Cool Things to Do When Visiting Chicago, Illinois
Chicago was the rail link between the West and the East and its meatpacking industry was the largest in the country. Beef from the plain and Texas came in and was then cut from Chicago, packaged and shipped to the rest of the world. From food to parks to shopping, Chicago has it all.
For architecture lovers, Chicago offers a wealth of buildings to see and explore. Chicago is full of amazing turn-of-the-century buildings blended with modern architecture. There is the famous Willis Tower, though for me it will always be the Sears Tower, the Chicago Building, the Tribune Tower.
Millennium Park
Located right in the city center, this huge park has a lot of green space. The park features the reflective Cloud Gate Sculpture, The Bean, which reflects the Chicago skyline and makes for great photos. Millennium Park also has an open-air restaurant and two large glass sculptures forming the Crown Fountain.
Designed by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, the Crown Fountain has two 50-foot towers facing each other at the opposite ends of a flat reflective pool. The towers’ LED screens project the faces of 1,000 different Chicago residents, who are perfectly aligned with spouts, so it seems they spit water on passers-by.
Art Institute of Chicago
It is one of the oldest museums in the country and has almost 300,000 items in its permanent collection. The Art Institute’s American Art Collection includes some of the most famous works in the American canon, including Edward Hoppers Nighthawks.
The collection ranges from colonial silver to modern and contemporary paintings. The Art Institute’s antique collection spans nearly 4,000 years of art and history, displaying Greek.
Chicago Riverwalk
On the south bank of the Chicago River, you can walk down the Riverwalk, which leads from Lake Shore Drive to Lake Street. It’s a great way to see the coast and see some people. There’s so much more to the Chicago Riverwalk than just strolling along a picturesque river.

Navy Pier
Navy Pier is something of a carnival in a city. It includes several rides, a Ferris wheel, many restaurants, a Shakespearean theater, boat tours, a strangely large number of beer gardens and even miniature golf.
